New England Predators' addition of a U19 Division for the 2026–2027 Season
Overview
The New England Predators will be offering a U19 (Under 19) team for the 2026–2027 season. The goal is to provide a structured, competitive pathway for athletes ages 17- 18–19 who have aged out of lower divisions but are not yet ready or able to transition into Junior Hockey or Collegiate leagues. This is for local players. This allows players to live at home, continuing to take classes or work. This program enables players to continue developing in the game without their parents having to worry while their son is away from home, at a fraction of the cost.
Rationale for Adding a U19 Program
Many athletes completing their U16 or U18 seasons seek a competitive environment to continue developing before moving to higher-level opportunities.
· Bridges the Gap to Junior, or Collegiate Hockey
· Ages 15–19 are critical developmental years
· Players benefit from additional seasonal structure, coaching, and game experience
· The U19 level serves as a steppingstone, improving readiness for Junior programs, college tryouts, or other post–high school opportunities.
Competitive Balance & Safety
· Creating an age-appropriate division ensures players compete against peers with similar size, maturity, and skill level
· Reduces mismatches that occur when older teens are pushed into adult leagues prematurely
Growing Demand
Families consistently ask for a place where graduating players can continue to play in a controlled, development-focused environment
